About the Studio

I have always thought the long winters in the Twin Ports should not be viewed as a roadblock to golf improvement but rather as an opportunity to improve one’s golf swing.

Early on in my career as a Golf Professional it became clear to me that providing instruction with modern technology like video analysis could help golfers improve their technique much faster than simple observation on the driving range alone. I also had always believed that it would be easier for a golfer to make changes to their technique during the off-season when their focus wasn’t on playing actual rounds of golf but rather on learning and practicing using proper feedback tools like video analysis and instructor feedback.

In 2009 I opened the Twin Ports Golf Studio in order to provide motivated golfers in the Duluth-Superior area a place to practice and improve their games during the winter months. It was my hope that lessons and practice indoors during the winter could help golfers take their new swings right to the golf course and bypass the uncomfortable learning curve that inevitably accompanies in-season swing changes.

Golfers were quickly drawn to the ability to take lessons and practice during the winter months. They were also intrigued by the indoor learning environment and video feedback that allowed them to experience golf instruction in a different way than ever before. Along with instruction at The Studio I would also teach outdoors at Enger Park Golf Course where I was the Head Golf Professional. Even during the golf season I would teach many lessons in The Studio because of the many unique advantages of teaching and learning indoors. My students got to experience the best of both worlds by utilizing all the tools available at The Studio and then transitioning to outdoor instruction during the golf season.

In December 2013, I left my position at Enger Park Golf Course to pursue an expansion of The Studio into it’s current location. At present, The Studio features one Teaching Bay equipped with high-speed video and a Foresight GC2 Launch Monitor and one Practice Bay with a Foresight GC2 Launch Monitor. Merchandise and custom fitting from major brands like Ping and Mizuno is available along with club repair services and simulator golf leagues. During the golf season, I offer outdoor instruction at Nemadji Golf Course in Superior, WI and at Ridgeview Country Club in Duluth, MN.

The Studio is open all year! Stop by, book an appointment online or give me a call at (715) 392-1872 for more information on current programs.
